The Preparations
Dan Greenblatt sent us this report while he was preparing to carry the torch:
|
As many of you know I will carry the Olympic flame when the Olympic Torch Relay
comes to Moab. I will be bike riding a 4.5 mile section of the Arches National
Park road. I was selected by the park to represent the National Park Service. I am honored and thrilled
by chance to participate. I can hardly wait for the moment.
I will be a small part of the celebration of the torch reaching Utah en route to the opening ceremonies of
the Olympics. The event will take place on February 4th in the early morning.
There will be a big media event at Delicate Arch at sunrise.
I have attached information about the torch relay at Arches National Park. The event is scheduled to begin
at 7:15 MST on February 4th. My participation is scheduled at 8:45 pm. My segment of the relay is the
final stretch of the Arches Road before the flame leaves the park.
After participating in the torch relay I will travel to Salt Lake City to work at a National Park Service
Visitor Center during the games.
