Chanah
CHANAH was the eldest of
the nine children of Ruchel and Isaac.
She was born in 1862. Chanah married Avrum Gula of Stashov, a
neighboring shtetl. They had 10 children. Five of her children did not
leave Poland --They perished in the Holocaust, together with their
families.
Avrum died in Bogria in
about 1925. Chanah came to Toronto in the early 1930' s with a niece,
Ruchel Gula and Ruchel's children.

Moises Gottlieb
The oldest of Tzutel’s children, Moises, left
Poland In 1936 for Buenos Aries. He brought his wife and children over in
1939, just before WW II. Moises (Mosheh) was a "Customer
Peddler", a popular Jewish business.

Tzutel's 4th Child
Herschel survived WWII by going east to the Soviet Union. After the War, he tried to return to Poland but it was no
place where they could live. They emigrated to Bolivia in 1946 and from
there to Brazil. Herschel's grandchild is now living in Panama.
Another child, Louis
Gotlieb, is also a survivor. He met Gert Strausberg in a refugee camp
after WWII. They were able to immigrate to Toronto where the children also
live.

Frimeth and Herschel Gula and

Chanah’s oldest son Herschel had married
Frimeth in Europe and they came to Toronto about 1907. Herschel was a big
and powerful man and he and Frimeth also had a large family – 8
children.

Herschel was a baker. In fact, he had the Matzo
bakery in Canada.
