Herschel and Surah Wagman
Herschel came with his
oldest son, Isaac, in about 1905 -1906. Isaac was only fourteen or fifteen
years old, but was considered an adult. Herschel worked hard, tried hard,
but could not make a living in Toronto, so he went back to Bogria in 1907.
Surah remained in Bogria with the other children.

Chanah and Zalman Greenblatt
Chanah, Herschel and Surah's oldest child, had married Zalman
Greenblatt in Europe (Zalman was from Bogria also) and they somehow got to
Toronto before World War I.
Chana and Zalman had no children of their own, but all of Herschel and
Surah’s grandchildren were their children.
While they were still in Toronto, grandnieces and grandnephews were
like grandchildren to them. |

Isaac Wagman
Isaac carried on the trade of the family. He worked as a
baker. Isaac met Yitel in Toronto and they were married before World War
I. They had two sons, Sam and Lou.

Sam and Lou grew up
together - they were the “fighters", the tough, street smart kids
of the neighborhood, nicknamed Dempsey and Firpo, the heavyweight champs. |
